Terms of Service

The terms and conditions governing your use of MailShield.

Last updated: February 2026

Acceptance of Terms

By accessing or using the MailShield service operated by MailShield ("MailShield", "we", "us", or "our"), available at app.mailshield.app, you agree to be bound by these Terms of Service. If you do not agree to these terms, you may not use the service.

If you are using MailShield on behalf of an organization, you represent that you have the authority to bind that organization to these terms.

Description of Service

MailShield is an email security monitoring platform that monitors DNS-based email authentication protocols (SPF, DKIM, DMARC, MTA-STS, TLS-RPT, BIMI, DNSSEC, and DANE) for your domains. The service processes DMARC aggregate reports and TLS-RPT reports, provides security scoring, and delivers alerts and recommendations.

MailShield is a monitoring and reporting tool. We do not modify your DNS records, email configurations, or any other aspect of your infrastructure. All changes to your domain configuration remain your responsibility.

Account Responsibilities

You are responsible for maintaining the security of your account credentials. You must:

  • Provide accurate and complete registration information
  • Keep your password secure and not share it with others
  • Notify us immediately if you suspect unauthorized access to your account
  • Only add domains that you own or are authorized to monitor

You are responsible for all activity that occurs under your account, whether or not you authorized it. MailShield is not liable for any loss or damage arising from unauthorized use of your account.

Acceptable Use

You agree to use MailShield only for its intended purpose: monitoring email security for domains you own or are authorized to manage. You may not:

  • Use the service to monitor domains you do not own or have authorization to manage
  • Attempt to gain unauthorized access to other users' accounts or data
  • Use the service for any illegal activity or to facilitate attacks against third parties
  • Reverse engineer, decompile, or disassemble any part of the service
  • Resell, sublicense, or redistribute the service without our written consent
  • Use automated tools to scrape, crawl, or overload our systems beyond normal usage patterns

We reserve the right to suspend or terminate accounts that violate these acceptable use terms.

Subscription and Payment

MailShield offers both free and paid subscription plans. Paid plans are billed on a recurring basis (monthly or annually) as specified at the time of purchase. Prices are displayed exclusive of applicable taxes unless otherwise stated.

You may upgrade, downgrade, or cancel your subscription at any time. Downgrades and cancellations take effect at the end of the current billing period. We do not provide prorated refunds for partial billing periods unless required by applicable law.

We reserve the right to change our pricing with 30 days' notice. Price changes will take effect at the start of your next billing period after the notice period.

Service Availability

We strive to maintain high availability of the MailShield service, but we do not guarantee uninterrupted or error-free operation. The service may be temporarily unavailable due to scheduled maintenance, updates, or circumstances beyond our control.

We will make reasonable efforts to notify you in advance of any planned downtime. For paid plans with uptime commitments, specific service level terms are detailed in your plan documentation.

Intellectual Property

The MailShield service, including its software, design, documentation, and branding, is owned by MailShield and protected by applicable intellectual property laws. Your subscription grants you a limited, non-exclusive, non-transferable right to use the service for its intended purpose.

You retain all rights to your data. By using the service, you grant us a limited license to process your data solely for the purpose of providing and improving the service.

Limitation of Liability

MailShield is a monitoring and reporting service. We provide security assessments and recommendations based on publicly available DNS data and reports you configure to send to us. We do not guarantee the accuracy, completeness, or timeliness of all information provided.

To the maximum extent permitted by applicable law, MailShield B.V. shall not be liable for any indirect, incidental, special, consequential, or punitive damages, or any loss of profits or revenue, whether incurred directly or indirectly, arising from your use of the service.

Our total aggregate liability for any claims arising from or related to the service shall not exceed the amount you paid us in the twelve months preceding the claim.

Nothing in these terms excludes or limits our liability for matters where liability cannot be excluded or limited under applicable law.

Termination

You may close your account at any time by contacting us or using the account deletion feature in the application. Upon account closure, we will delete your personal data in accordance with our Privacy Policy.

We may suspend or terminate your account if you violate these terms, engage in prohibited activities, or fail to pay subscription fees. In the event of termination for cause, you will not be entitled to a refund of any prepaid fees.

Upon termination, your right to use the service ceases immediately. Sections of these terms that by their nature should survive termination (such as limitation of liability and governing law) will continue to apply.

Modifications to Terms

We may update these Terms of Service from time to time. When we make material changes, we will notify you by email or through a prominent notice in the application at least 30 days before the changes take effect.

Your continued use of the service after the effective date of any changes constitutes your acceptance of the updated terms. If you do not agree to the updated terms, you may close your account before they take effect.

Governing Law

These Terms of Service are governed by and construed in accordance with the laws of the Netherlands, without regard to its conflict of law provisions. Any disputes arising from or related to these terms or the service shall be submitted to the exclusive jurisdiction of the courts of the Netherlands.
